Singapore Meetings
A big part of many alcoholics' recovery comes in the form of A.A. meetings. A.A. meetings can be 'Closed' or 'Open'. A 'Closed' meeting is for any person, anywhere who has or thinks they may have a desire to stop drinking. One need not have attended any meetings previously to attend a 'Closed' meeting. 'Open' meetings are for members of the community who may wish to have more information about A.A.. Nonalcohlics may attend open meetings as observers. The official definition of 'Closed' and 'Open' meetings is below as taken from our A.A. literature. The Difference Between Open and Closed Meetings
The purpose of all A.A. group meetings, as the Preamble states, is for A.A. members to "share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism." Toward this end, A.A. groups have both open and closed meetings.Closed meetings are for A.A. members only, or for those who have a drinking problem and "have a desire to stop drinking."
Open meetings are available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous' program of recovery from alcoholism. Non-alcoholics may attend open meetings as observers.
